ARCHIVAL TRAVELS
The Volume Dealers have been busy. Volume 4 of the Archives is underway, entering the completion phase for All songs we have uncovered over the last two or three years. These tunes are recorded and mixed mostly. Some changes and refinements have been done to them for the Volume 4 Archives Collection. In one case, many songs from The Bluenote Cafe period in 1987 have been remixed with more lead vocal and bass. I like the music better now that the vocal is more clear and you can stay with the story. When I did them originally i was really into the swing of the Bluenotes and featured the band more than the song itself. I see it differently now.
The next batch of songs was from the period around Rockin’ in the Free World. We made a few small adjustments in these songs for the Archives Collection, while they mostly were unaltered. The songs in this collection that have been altered are in 24/96 digital. They are also available in Atmos. All the originals are in the Archives file cabinet as well, in the shape they were created, unaltered.
We are now traveling through the time we introduced Rockin’ in the Free World on SNL in the late eighties. Sessions at the Hit Factory in NYC as well as the rehearsal practices for SNL, including ‘Fuckin Up’, are available along with other originals from the album Freedom.
When this Volume 4 Archives Collection is released, the same song period will be filled in at the archives file cabinet at NYA. Many are already there now. The Volume 4 Archives Collection will contain some songs that have been improved, edited or otherwise altered. We are deep into it. The collection goes from 1987 to 2004 and includes many films. The Volume Dealers are deep into it and will be for the remainder of this year.
