Judgment is a human fallacy that seems to be in full force these days. The practice of negatively evaluating another sometimes serves as a temporary balm for one’s own emotional pain.
Passing judgment makes us feel better in the moment. When we watch a show about someone who is a hoarder, we don’t feel so bad about our own dirty dishes in the sink.
However, this practice comes with a high price – both for the one facing scrutiny and the one issuing it. Sometimes the damage lasts a lifetime.
No one knows the whole story. We all know how it feels to be on the receiving end of judgment. Let’s remember that the next time we start to bring down the gavel on someone else.
