I would like to confess that the first time I ever heard the album Time Fades Away, it changed my entire life. Its message was emotionally harsh, yet comforting, and the perfect music to hear at that point in my life. For me, it’s one of the most significant works of art I found that came close to explaining what it’s like to live with depression and neurodivergence and still keep your head above water and survive. It spoke to me: “Yes, I feel like I am in a world of shit, but I’m still here,” and loudly demanded that I hear this message: “I’m going to survive, and you can too, kid. It’s a harsh world we all live in. But keep demanding they listen to you.” Seriously, the music of Time Fades Away changed the entire way I saw the world, and for the better.
I love Neil and everything he creates. But Time Fades Away is what brought Neil Young into my heart and soul. It’s much appreciated, Neil. Very much! <3
