THE REVERSE LOOP

Well folks, It’s been a long time since I have written to you about Three Rail World and a great deal has happened.

Three Rail World is a place where I love to meet with my kids and play, the other children in the family too. Even though Zeke is 51 and Ben is 44, and I am now 77, we are still kids in Three Rail World. I always love seeing the youngest come by and get excited by the trains. It’s a beautiful feeling. My birthday is coming up and I hope to be spending some good time there. Life is for fun times like those!

Jimmy Moore, co-creator, has been adding track and trestles. And a new reversing loop! After a year of looking at the layout, we finally discovered the ideal place for the reverse loop. That’s where trains can enter and then leave going in the opposite direction. Since we have two mainlines, we thought we needed reverse two loops, but there was not enough room for that. It would have made the layout too busy- too many tracks distracting from the beauty of the scenery.

Speaking of scenery, we are almost to the point where we will add moss. Moss looks like fields of green in 3 rail world. We find moss in forests and even find sheets of moss in nurseries. The sheets are perfect for large fields and meadows, while the rougher pieces from the forest are heavier and work near the world’s mountain ranges. We have a lot of ways to add greenery to Three Rail World! You will see that here soon.

Also coming next is the return of Ben Young’s controller. Back in the day at Lionel, we made controllers that were able to be accessed
through a head switch. Since Ben does not use his hands for fine control, the head switch enables him to replicate whatever command we have just given. That means if we decide to blow the horn on any engine, Ben can do the same thing by hitting his connected head switch. We all love doing that together.

Soon we will have videos of Ben doing this with us. Parents of kids with disabilities will be able to see how they can do this themselves with their own kids – if they love trains! And all kids seem to!
