STAND FOR PEACE Directed by Daryl Hannah

by@kubohemian

Visually, this video says it all:
Among American flags in tatters, Old Young plays our song like it still matters,

Played to an audience of lonesome ghosts.
The old troubadour hosts-
Not Woodstock-but a concert of one.

The parties-both, the red and the blue-are over and done-
Face it: neither side has won In this country that has come undone,

Unrivaled
Yet unraveled,
We mustn’t live amongst our own worst rivals. But know there’s no renewal of life’s lease, And those who once stood for peace

Have died
In life’s ever changing tide. The crystal ball still spins, But shines on no one but Young,
Forlorn though he seems.

Like our flag, his heart is torn at the seams,
As his guitar cries Key’s song, Intentionally off key, notes drawn out too long
To convey the nature of our state gone wrong.
It’s as if his playing Is really saying:

“That’s right, our ballroom may be empty, folks,
But standing for peace ain’t no hoax. Side by side with the ghost of Hendrix,

Come one, come all, I’m spelling it out in black and white:
The need is for blue and red to sing this song with me tonight.”
