The USA under President Donald Trump.
In a civil case, a jury found president Trump liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll and defaming her, and awarded her $5 million. However, A civil liability finding is not a criminal conviction. The former president of the USA was found liable for sexual abuse. He was elected again by American voters a few years later.
The saying, “a fish rots from the head” is apropos here, there are no consequences nor any justice when 98% of rapists never spend a day in jail as hundreds of thousands of sexual assault kits (a package of items used by medical, police or other personnel for gathering and preserving physical evidence following an instance or allegation of sexual assault. The evidence collected from the victim can aid the criminal rape investigation and the prosecution of a suspected assailant.) still sit unexamined on evidence room shelves.
Many women, while trying to get justice for sex offenses committed against them, might prefer to hide their identity publicly while trying to attain their justice, using names like Jane Doe. In the USA, these women are often doxxed, a term used to describe doxxing – cyber threats exposing personal info, possibly leading to harassment, emotional distress, financial loss, and physical danger. Countless ‘Jane Does’, including the one in the news now at Cornell University, are being doxxed in the USA today as this is being written.
An “I am Spartacus” movement has sprung up online with countless people saying ‘I AM JANE DOE’, to help obscure and protect the women who do not want their identity known.
This the USA today.
