Welcome to these eight songs – Change Without Us.
The gift of our current mass extinction is the Earth’s presentation of life. Life is offered to us in our months and days and moments. Life takes the form it always gives us – death is within that life. These songs are from “the ritual of the riddle”, created in our Earthchurch by three song-makers, Savitri, Sunder and myself. We always compose with the improvisatory singing of the Stop Shopping Choir as our eco-system. The songs have our art, New York, children, sex, beauty, fear… the rituals that make the songs, that help us abandon ourselves to life. The Earth goes on changing without us and we know that death is within that change, but as the song says, “Death makes the sun rise.” —Reverend Billy
