Earthman around the Sunwoman not once, not twice, 80 circles around the fire, spinning with music all the way, crowds of us circling by you we listen and wave and cheer and you tell us to Love each other be good to each other and you are the hippest human to say Love straight out like that without holding back or being cool just letting the word fill arenas without any rider and promises that we make to ourselves have power longer when the Love in your melodies is circling in cities and towns and countryside and all spiralling life is singing, from invisible animals to wolverines to turtles to cedars to fish eagles to fungi the world is full of great tunes if we threw a thousand tiny microphones into a forest clearing we would pick up the sounds of a thousand songs, and Neil you would somehow be in there singing with the forest probably the natural world recognizes one of its own the way that elephants trust old humans that they loved when they were kids like the way your songs enter the vibrating bodies of millions of people walking through gardens and airports and restaurants and jails…. your atmospheric presence circles with us we remember to stay as open to experience as vulnerable as you sound with your this-notes-for-you Love and I-think-I’ll-hit-the-Peace-Trail Love and with-the-barkers-and-the-colored-balloons Love your out-of-the-blue-into-black Love save-the-planet-for-another-day Love and your Love-Earth-and-your-Love-comes-back-to-you Love and you circle in silver Ontario lakes with families of Common Loons circling hearing you singing in an old green canoe and there’s a guitar in the boat and beautiful Daryl circling with you and the next new song is coming into its opening notes the lake is waiting and Neil the thing is – the thing is – for all these years you have been teaching us to Love and today all you taught us is circling back to you.
