Neil Young to Perform Solo at Benefit Concert at Historic Lakefield College School Property in Support of Farmhouse Restoration
Lakefield, ON – April 7, 2025 – Legendary Canadian artist Neil Young will perform a special outdoor benefit concert on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Lakefield College School’s Northcote Campus. Set against the backdrop of the historic 1878 farmhouse,, the event will raise funds in support of the restoration of the farmhouse and adjacent cabins. In addition to the school’s organic educational farm, the hope is that the site will, one day, be used to celebrate music, and the arts.
The idea for the concert began last fall when Neil Young and actress Daryl Hannah visited Lakefield’s Northcote property. Daryl and her friend enjoyed joining the students in harvesting vegetables and learning preparation and dying. While exploring the farmhouse and surrounding land, they were struck by the character of the site and the school’s commitment to sustainability-focused, hands-on education. Inspired by the blend of history, purpose, and learning taking place at Northcote, they offered to help restore the farmhouse and cabins. As Neil shared, “This classic turn of the century farm, restored to its original greatness, is a testimony to the history of Canada.”
Neil Young decided to perform a benefit concert at the farm, with ALL proceeds donated to support the heritage home and cabins.
Tickets for the general public are on sale beginning Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

This once-in-a-lifetime event is expected to welcome approximately 2,500 guests to Lakefield College School’s scenic learning farm. The concert will feature Neil Young performing solo outdoors in an intimate setting, surrounded by the fields, forests, and heritage buildings the fundraiser aims to preserve.
