LIVE AT MASSEY HALL 1971

LIVE AT MASSEY HALL 1971

Directed by Bernard Shakey

This was a monumental show for me. Back home for the first time since leaving Toronto in 1966, before joining Buffalo Springfield, I was playing in Canada to a sold-out house. It was a thrill. A homecoming! I could feel the love from the audience.

All the songs are here, audio performed and recorded by David Briggs on a 7 1/2 “ tape recorder, just as it was that night in January 1971. It was a beginning. . . . .

New songs, ‘Old Man’, ‘Needle and the Damage Done’, ‘Heart of Gold’ and others were played that night, never heard before that tour.

For this Massey Hall film, we used another film and synced it to Brigg’s Massey Hall audio. The film we used was shot by Wim van der Linden a few days before when I played a show in the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford Connecticut. That never-before screened Stratford show with its original soundtrack will be coming to the Hearse Theater.
