These days there is much talk about complicated matters. Matters that divide humanity and cause great tension and harm. The thing that is often missing in current discussions is the subject of love.
When the word “love” is brought up, people immediately get uncomfortable, often thinking of romantic entanglements or stressful scenarios. While those things are exciting, love itself is so much more simple than that. Love is respect for another. Love is caring for others both in commonality and in difference.
We can deny it all we want, but love is our natural state. When a baby is born, it is automatically loving. A child gives no thought to whether a person or thing is worthy of love – love comes to them as simply as breathing. It should be that way for adults, too.
No matter what seemingly important circumstance is facing us, we must always remember to put love first. Love is the common thread that unites us all. It is the life force that put us here in the first place.
