Dear Neil and NYA team,
I heard that the “One More Sign” TTN outtake was once planned but later withdrawn. I would really love to hear it someday.
I’ll remember that AND LISTEN TO IT TODAY
After hearing the version on NYA Vol. 2, I completely fell in love with this song. It has become one of my favorites, and I would be thrilled to experience the TTN version as well.
In any case, “One More Sign” means so much to me that I even play and sing it on ukulele.

Just noting for your readers that the photos from As Time Explodes were taken at last year’s Jones Beach show in New York.
There had been a bad storm the day before and the front row seats were taken out due to high tide concerns. The pit did fill up with water during the show and you could see the band’s reflection in the water. I took my own pictures of the reflections in the water.
I recall Neil said it was an honor to play for water during the concert.

Is the guitar part on the version of “Birds” off of Early Daze the same guitar you used with the Mynah Birds?

Hey Neil,
yesterday I watched Journey Through The Past in the Hearse Theatre and there was a scene of the Springfield and you playing “Mr. Soul.” As always when I’m listening to “Mr. Soul,” the intro/main riff reminded me of “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones and vice versa.
Do you also hear the similarity between those two songs?
Very much so.
This similarity is kind of special to me because you and The Rolling Stones are one of the main influences on me. Talking about influences I have to name two more, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and JJ Cale. I can see some similarities here, too, especially looking at great songwriting and unique playing style, and I was wondering if you had any relationship to Tom Petty or JJ Cale?
I knew them both and they were great

Hello Neil,
One of your longest and oldest fans grew a set a wings and joined our dad in that great great land beyond on April 11, 2026. Mom passed peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones at age 96…. When I was 13 years old in 1968, Mom took me to my first two concerts, you and Crazy Horse at the LaCave and Jimi Hendrix at Music Hall (both in Cleveland). In 1969 Mom also took me to see CSNY in Cleveland and in 1970, I took her to see CSNY at Public Hall in Cleveland. Then, in November 1970, you opened for Blood Sweat and Tears at the Kent State Shooting Benefit at Public Hall. Mom and I had first row seats and sat right in front of you.
Though my Mom started my musical training at age 5 on piano, when I told her I wanted to learn to play guitar, she insisted I learn from seeing, studying and listening to you … I was the luckiest kid to have a Mom who wanted me to learn by watching you. This led to a life of songwriting and performance, especially when our family was together with Mom. When our Dad passed in 2009, I wanted to make sure mom was not alone. Our family got Mom out to 168 concerts, mostly at the Beachland Ballroom or Music Box in Cleveland during the last 16 years of her life. Dave Alvin, John Doe, Chris Smithers, Judy Collins, Jimmy Webb, Emmylou, etc. brought her great joy and strength to continue her active life…. In 2024, Mom was in a wheelchair from a stroke she incurred in 2022 but still made it out to see live music including the Stones and Michael Franti.
In 2025, we got Mom to Blossom Music Center—9th row center seats to see you for the last time. She was so thrilled to take her grandkids (and me) to see you. At age 95, she even stood up to give you seven standing ovations from her wheelchair. After your concert at Blossom, she still saw Dave Alvin, Carolyn Wonderland, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and four weeks before she passed, I took her to see Don Was at the Beachland Ballroom.
Our Mom, Betts Skrha, had such a love for music and shared that love during her entire life with her kids, grandkids and even two great-grandkids. She opened the door to so many people learning and loving your music. She was also a tremendous advocate for wildlife and wild places. Seeing a sunset to her was infinitely more valuable than any tv show or movie and loving her husband and family and sharing that love with others was her most important goal in life.
Though we all miss her, she gave us all your gift of music. Thank you Neil and thank you for giving our Mom so much joy in her life…

Hi Neil—
Once upon a time, I thought, if I found the ‘right’ medical doctor, I would be heard and have good care. Nope, I learned the hard way. Traditional medical doctors are trained to attach symptoms to disease and treat with medication, further testing and surgery if warranted. It is now out in the open that medical doctors are not trained in nutrition at this juncture.
Last year, I learned that I have Lyme disease and Alpha Gal Syndrome, after years of seeing doctor after doctor and being too sick to work. I followed the medical drug protocol (antibiotics) and asked for a nutritionist to assist with the dietary changes necessary for this mammalian meat allergy, caused by a tick bite. I was told to do my own research or visit a large city hospital, as there was ‘no one’ with that training. I was given the name of a Lyme ‘specialist’ who was far away and did not take insurance. I spent several hundred dollars on supplements, also not covered by insurance. I noticed some improvement.
Finally, I heeded your advice and went to a Functional Medicine Nutritionist. OMG, I learned so much, was offered guidance and felt heard. It was expensive and not covered by insurance. Brilliant woman. She used the Qest4 bio scan and ‘tested’ supplements to see if my body would be receptive and recommended a low histamine diet. Seems all the drugs to help me wreaked havoc on my gut. Noticing some shifts and am cautiously optimistic, yet confused.
If this type of technology exists, why is it not mainstream and covered by our MANDATED health insurance?

My fiancé Joost has been your biggest fan since his teenage years. Listening to your music after our first date, it was one of the reasons I fell so deeply in love with him.
Last year, during your Europe tour, he followed you around and took me along to the show in Copenhagen. It was the day, as it turned out, the boy that is now lying in our arms came into being. He was born on March 22.
I still remember you playing Looking Forward during the show. I had a quiet feeling and placed my hand on my belly, when for a brief moment it felt like you looked our way.
We’ll raise our son Felix to your music, and he’ll have his own reasons to love it. Life works out in wonderful ways, doesn’t it?
