GUITARS AND AMPS BOOK
Hi, Neil. Hope you are well.
Have you considered publishing a book that catalogs ALL of your guitars and amps and their stories? That would be one big book, I imagine. Also: can I please help write it? Resume and writing samples available. 🙂
Thanks for the music and your example.
Elbows up!

SOLO SHOWS
Hi Neil, Would you consider playing some solo theatre shows this fall or winter in places like Texas (which had some cancellations on last year’s tour and haven’t been booked by the Chrome Hearts) and maybe some cities on the east coast like New York and Boston? These would be extra special for these audiences since it’s been 7, 11, and even 15 years since the almighty Neil Young has played there solo. Just a suggestion for you to consider. LOVE!!!!
Thanks! Maybe it will happen. I like the company out here on the long tours….but maybe a short one solo…..

OCD
Hi, I’m a bit OCD when it comes to organizing my music library, and I’ve noticed on the site that sometimes it’s “Neil Young & Crazy Horse” and sometimes it’s “Neil Young with Crazy Horse.” Or Stray Gators, Promise of the Real, Santa Monica Flyers, all of Neil’s backing bands. Is there a standard that it’s supposed to be—& or with? Or does it vary by band—e.g., “Neil Young with Crazy Horse,” “Neil Young & The Stray Gators,” etc.
Thank you for all your great work!

PINE KNOB
Aug. 19th @ Pine Knob, I was in the front and center in the pit—It was pure magic! I was mesmerized! I play mandolin, guitar and harmonica—You are my #1 favorite artist of all time. I’ve had some recent family tragedies and I wanted to say, “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart. I felt pure joy and a complete connection to you from the time you started and until it ended. I wasn’t the only one that didn’t want it to end—15 thousand others agreed—the audience just roared and roared for you! You truly are a living legend. We love you Neil and Daryl!
Fondly,

CONCERTY TICKETS ETC
Yo- Whats up with verified fan resale not being turned on for Jones Beach and Gilford. I am going to be forced to eat tickets for friends who cannot attend. I will not be renewing in 2026. This is BS-
Further, I have been in the front row at a few Farm Aids- and will be again this year- I need to work on a special shirt to wear that will address this
Having said that, I still think Greendale was robbed by those communists ruining the Grammys. I only ever listen to it in its ENTIRETY- as it was meant to be.
Perhaps I will reconsider my ill feelings about this shit with TM—IF—I will be at the Gilford show and as mentioned at Farm Aid in the front row—if you want to play Be the Rain, Bandit or Sun Green.
Carry on my pompous rockstar—I will always love ya—

TICKETS SUCK
Dear Neil,
I just spent many hours dealing with Ticketmaster. Not being able to transfer tickets is a real drag.
I had a total knee replacement and was not ready in time for the show in New Hampshire. Unfortunately I purchased all the tickets and couldn’t transfer them to the people I was going with. I had to sell them through Ticketmaster and that process is BS. Only two of the people got tickets because it was mostly sold out.
Just an FYI from an old fan who misses the days when all you needed to carry was a paper ticket. I feel like throwing my iPhone in the river most days.
Have a great rest of the tour. Sorry I missed it. I know it was fantastic.
Thanks!

VENUE
Hi!
Just a request for a concert venue on Neil’s next tour … Some of the best shows I’ve seen are at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. I know a bunch of people that would go. And FWIW the Carnegie Hall shows were also awesome.
Thank you!

I wrote a letter to Neil, now I’m wondering if it even sent because of the apps interruption to hastily get me to subscribe monthly (of which I did) but now I feel everything i said is gone forever. I’m having a tough time right now after losing my dad in June. I needed Neil to know how important he is to me and that ill always promote his work because my old dad went a walkin one day, and this is what he’d want me to do.

Neil,
Great shows in Michigan and Ohio on the LOVE EARTH tour! You sound incredible and full of energy. The Chrome Hearts band is great. I took my daughter (Emma) to the Michigan show (her second Neil show at seven years old!) and I went with my brother and some friends to the show in Ohio at Blossom. Thanks for the music. Our family continues to bond over your music and it means a lot to us each time we have the opportunity to see you in concert. Safe travels. I will see you in Chicago! (Going solo to that one).
Sincerely, Kyle Evanchuck

PLATFORM MOVES
Hope all is well with you and Daryl on tour and that you get to Australia soon (Adelaide) please with the band—either Crazy Horse or the Chrome Hearts!
I wanted to bring to your attention the fact that large cult indie bands King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Deerhoof and Godspeed You! Black Emperor have removed their catalogues off Spotify with some of them off streaming apps altogether for a number of reasons including links to military spending, artist pay, etc. I applaud your decision in taking a stand against META. Is it now time to support these artists and take your music of these greedy, evil platforms? Keep fighting the good fight.

FARMAID
Dear Neil,
Looking forward to seeing you and the Chrome Hearts at Farm Aid in Minneapolis in a few weeks. The 40th Anniversary of Farm Aid seems like the perfect occasion to break out “This Old House,” which hasn’t been played since Farm Aid IV in 1990.
I feel like the Chrome Hearts could do a fantastic job with this tune.

TORONTO
Dear Neil,
We were very lucky to attend Sunday night’s show in Toronto and all I can say is … wow! A stellar performance by you, Spooner and the boys. Sitting in our NYA seats next the soundboard provided a perfect mix of vocals and instruments. Also loved the various stage lighting colors and of course the big Fender Deluxe amp for a perfect visual effect complimenting the amazing sound.
Between ‘Silver Eagle’ and ‘Harvest Moon’ your guitar tech did something to your Martin, maybe a D modal adjustment, with you leaning into the mic saying, “I just learned something.”
So now I have to ask, what was it?
Best wishes & safe travels,

ACOUSTIC GREENDALE
Shakey,
Will the upcoming Acoustic Greendale release be released with just the song audio, or will there be the banter and the Greendale storylines in between like on Vicar Street? I imagine if it has the stories the vinyl release would probably need 3+ LPs?
Thanks! Caught you in Cleveland a few nights ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ambulance Blues is a grail song, so it was an amazing start!
It will contain all the stories

BLOSSOM
It was great to see you at the Blossom Music Center on Friday night. I was completely immersed in your performance of MR. SOUL and didn’t want the song to end. I knew every word even though I probably haven’t heard it in decades. You’ve gotten me through so many times in my life with your music over the past 50 years but hearing that song on that Friday night created something in me that I can’t even describe. I hit the internet for the song after we returned home to PA and I realized that it could have a connection to a seizure. My daughter has had seizures since she was 18, many different meds, tried the naturals, tried calming the anxiety, just about everything but nothing really works. She’s 35 now, works a FT job, mom of two kids, just a truly amazing woman regardless of what she endures … bruises, broken teeth, broken bones, trips to the ER. I’ve read that you haven’t disclosed your method of treating your epilepsy but would love to hear about it, if you’re willing to share.
WITH LOVE AND GRATITUDE,

FRESHWATER AMPHITHEATER
Hey Neil,
You and the band absolutely smoked yesterday. By the time a few songs had passed, it was already feeling like a special show, but that feeling was cemented as the show continued. Between the Mr Soul, Sun Green, Tumbleweed, and This Note’s For You, the Freshwater Amphitheatre show feels like a classic. Someday down the road, I would love to see it show up as a timeline concert, and I’m sure others would too.
Thanks a lot man, these memories will really stay with me.

TORONTO
Hi Neil
Thank you for the fantastic show(s) in Toronto. I had the pleasure of finally being able to take my daughters to see you in concert, after introducing them to your music years ago. Our highlight of the night was Tumbleweed.
This song gives me great peace and is very special to our family. But we didn’t expect that this would show up in your setlist (out of your vast catalogue). What a blessing and surprise it was to hear it. I want to thank you (and whatever cosmic forces made this happen). It was an emotional moment that we will treasure forever.
Thank you for your music and for sticking up for Earth and Canada. You are one of a kind.
Peace and Love

REAL?
Hey Neil,
How about answering fewer letters with real replies? The one sentence or two word replies are pretty useless?
The questions are often good. We do not need to read who went to what concert or how great it was so please lose those.
For example, a full straight answer to this:
Why are your cd jackets many different sizes making them so difficult to rack?
Thanks.

A BAD ACCIDENT
Short Story: Hoping for a “Throw Your Hatred Down” in Denver.
Long Story: Two years ago we hit the last show at the Ford and had Front Row Tickets to the Santa Barbara show. Since we were in the area, we tried to cram in a bonus show in Ventura the night in between.
Unfortunately, after hitting the crosswalk button, with flashing lights above the walkway, my wife and I were hit in the crosswalk, with me breaking both legs. I did my best from the hospital bed to pass the tickets on to no avail. I asked if they could put me in aircasts and wheel me down and was met with not even a smile from the doctor.
With personal injury, part of the deal is getting an attorney. After several phone calls, we settled on one who, in explaining our story, related his favorite song when he’s having a bad day, “Throw Your Hatred Down.” Pulling out a fairly deep cut was all I needed to know I had the right guy.
Fast forward, we were able to catch shows in Dalhalla and Bergen on our comeback trip this summer and can’t wait for Denver.
Thanks

ALBUM BY ALBUM
Dear Neil,
Last year, I had a book published about you—it’s called Neil Young: Album by Album and covers all your solo albums up to Before and After.
Do you ever read books written about you and if so, have you read mine?
Best wishes, and thanks for the amazing Hyde Park, London gig this summer!

TORONTO
Dearest Neil,
My plans to see your concert at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto were thwarted by the Air Canada strike/lockout, which prevented me from travelling from Winnipeg for both the Aug 17 and Aug 19 shows. What a fiasco! I was so disappointed, especially since I had great seats for the Aug 17 show. Now that the strike is over, I managed to find a ticket to the Aug 23 show at Jones Beach and unbelievably was able to book a new flight (fingers crossed I can actually get to the show on time!), but I was unable to find a comparable ticket to the Bethel Woods show on Aug 25. Sigh. There is only one solution! Come home to Winnipeg! We missed seeing you last year and didn’t make the tour schedule this year, and we need you. As my good friend Larry Hicock wrote in his book “Raised on Rock n Roll” (2025) about the Winnipeg music scene in the 1960s: “There’s probably no better example of a musician holding his ground than Neil Young.” And that ground began in Winnipeg. I look forward to seeing you at Jones Beach, and will cross my fingers for a Winnipeg date in the near future.
Best wishes from the ‘Peg—always!

COUNTRY GIRL
Dear Neil,
Thanks for adding “Country Girl” from BSB 2006 to NYA. I remember that Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings were playing the song, and totally unexpected you came on stage to support them (yes I was there, all the way from Belgium to BSB). Goosebumps from the top of my head to my toes. Such a beautiful song!

MUDFLOW MESSSGE
Hello Neil, Daryl and of NYA,
Got my surprise email today on this hot swampy tropical afternoon, after seeing NAKED GUN 2 in an air-conditioned theater downtown.
I saw Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings and had to hear, Country Girl, live at the Bridge Concert in 2006. Such a treat, those two are a National Treasure and they didn’t let me down backing you on this song.
From what I can see, outtakes is something I need to explore further as I dig for diamonds in the Archives. If all cuts sound as good as this one did, you win, I’m floored.
Also, you put Old King up a while ago. I had to listen on my phone, but it took me back my High School days listening to Larry Ramos pick his banjo.
I really miss that guy, his was my second family.
Glad to have you back in the States, brother, many thanks for you epic reporting on the comparison/contrast between US and Europe.
Stay safe, stay strong, stay with the music!
And also, my pal Adam is putting on a concert to benefit the homeless—He’s Adam from Adam’s Angels, he distributes food to those in need, sort of like room service-please pass the word, he could use a few more players, the gig will be at The Granada Theater in SB, Saturday September 27th.
That’s my PSA for the day, brother.
Peace, Love and Music!
-Mudflow Mike
