BRIGGS GARAGE ALBUM
Hi Neil-
Did you ever find out what happened to the “Garage” live Crazy Horse album that Briggs made from the 1986 US Tour? You were once mentioning it in the context of Vol. 3. Is it now a standalone, or Volume 4 candidate or a casualty of Rock N Roll?
Thanks!
Omar
Omar Yes we are looking at that. I left it off the volume but it may be a good stand alone. Not sure. It’s Briggs, so it will be good.

HURRICANE 50TH
HURRICANE 50TH
Hey Neil,
This summer I hear the stringman. It will be the 50th anniversary of the birth of one of your finest defining musical anthems, Like A Hurricane. You have a lot on your plate right now, but how about an easy to produce ‘NYA Special’ to mark the occasion, as a goodie to NYA members? A special official ‘NYA Playlist,’ curated by you as a kind of ‘NYA Virtual EP,’ with some new live versions of Hurricane across the ages in best audio quality of course. Or you could maybe even invite folks to nominate their favorite unreleased live versions and save you some searching?
And to top it off we could even try to get the true history of the recording dates sorted out. Remember I keep bugging you about it. I’d be happy to resubmit evidence to the Archivist to look at.
I know, I’m just a dreamer on a foggy trip.
Have fun on the lake.
LAOL

Thanks Broadfoot
We will look at that idea.

HOW TO FIND THINGS AT NYA
Hi Neil hope all is well, I have a couple of questions and a couple of suggestions!!! I wish there was a way to type in the song and have a variety of the version of the recording, like Greendale solo version and video. I can’t seem to find the song Philadelphia off the soundtrack or any version!!! Having access to all videos would be a blessing. And last but not least, access to the chords of the song, I always seem to be missing that one special sound/chord that matters. Anyway thanks for all you do and being a big part of my life.
Thanks again,
Your brother Dave
Peace
Dave

CROZ
Hello, Neil. I hope this message finds you well. We are all looking forward to your new album with the Chrome Hearts. It won’t be long now! So recently, I was pondering the mysteries of the Universe. I’m trying to make sense of all the craziness we have been witnessing recently. When Mr. Crosby passed away, it made me quite reflective. I know David lived a full life and that he was thriving against all odds. His last few albums with the Lighthouse Band were truly awesome. His passing wasn’t necessarily surprising, as many of us felt he would have crossed over decades ago. But his departure reminded me of the film Final Destination. He was indeed the first member of CSN&Y to leave us. Here’s my question: Do you feel that the wacky forces that are governing our planet Earth have a plan in place? Or is everything random? In other words, do you feel Baby Jesus or Mother Nature or whatever controls these things, took The Croz first merely because his name appears first in Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young? Is everyone going to wink out in order? And if so, aren’t you just so very delighted that your name is last?
Keep on rockin’ in the free and/or fascist world!
Your favorite pen-pal,
David

COASTAL IN OZ
Hi Neil,
I saw Daryl’s new movie the other week—it was fantastic! It was playing in the oldest continually running theatre in Australia (built in 1858).
I noticed you’re a big fan of tea. What’s your favourite? I like lemon verbena or freshly picked mint with a little sugar. And not too hot.
Keep it real, Neil!
Jake
Jake, I like mullen tea and fresh mint is great!

FARMAID
Hey Neil, just saw the announcement for this year’s Farm Aid. We really enjoyed the show last year in Saratoga Springs. Any chance that a future Farm Aid event will be held somewhere in California?
Enjoy the upcoming tour! See you at the Hollywood Bowl in September.

BLOCKED VIDEO
I just returned from several days in Kyiv. If you haven’t personally visited Kyiv before, check out my amateur YouTube video that features your music. Note: I couldn’t use “Keep on Rocking in the Free World” or my video gets blocked. I don’t make money on these, I’m just trying to remember my own experiences.
I don’t know why your own video is blocked.
Not my deal
Sorry

RETURN TO EUROPE
Hi Neil just saw that you may be coming back to Europe in spring playing France and Italy on your travels. Any chance you could visit Scotland again and maybe play Edinburgh or Stirling Castle would be a stunning backdrop for the band.
Maybe. I’m just lookin at it.

ACOUSTIC EURO TOUR?
Hi Neil,
Can’t wait for the European tour! I’m doing three dates, and as much as I’m really looking forward to them, outdoor shows have a tendency to be on the quiet side. Will you assure us that they’ll be LOUD?!
Cheers!
Tom, Liverpool
I like them loud Tom!
They will be as loud as possible.

Farm Aid 40
Dear Neil,
Looking forward to seeing you and the Chrome Hearts in Minnesota in September. Too bad the Minnesota date on the tour fell through because the venue won’t be ready.
You could make it up to us by posting the 9/01/85 Minnesota State Fair show as a NYA Timeline concert. Would tie in nicely with FA 40, it being a Minnesota show from 40 years ago. It was a fantastic show (my first). You even commented on the great moon that night.
David Skoglund
David
great idea!
It is up now and you can see it here.

Love This App
Aloha,
Love this app. Learned about it while listening to three of your books on Audible.
Especially loved the book “Special Deluxe” as I too am an enthusiast about old cars. I have a 1972 Buick Riviera that’s about 98 percent restored on Oahu. I believe there’s only two or three Rivieras in Hawai‘i now. We put an acoustic sound box under the back “boat-tail” window with two sub-woofers, along with the other multiple speakers and a big amp in the trunk powered by an independent battery. Best car stereo I’ve ever heard, so I am looking forward to listening to your high resolution once I can drive it. Just have a problem with a front brake to fix and then I can drive it around the island blasting some of your archived music.
Of course it is not an environmentally friendly vehicle as it now has a truck engine as we had to replace the 455 V-8 due to difficulties finding parts. It’s rarely been driven since I bought it 14 years ago, so not a lot of CO2 has been released into the atmosphere (a rationalization I suppose).
It’s awesome that you love Hawai‘i and have been here many times and have listened to “Hawaii” and “Hawaiian Sunrise” many times.
Enjoyed going to see your movie “Coastal” a few weeks ago. Cool to see what a rock band tour is like behind the scenes.
I now listen to Amazon Prime Music which has songs in HD. I’ve compared many songs on Amazon Music and Apple Music on high-end Sony Noise-Canceling Headphones and the difference is amazing.
Thanks for all your work on preserving music in HD. I probably listened to “After The Gold Rush” hundreds of times when I was in HS in the ’70s and had the vinyl record.
My stereo system back then was not very good though. Lol.
Take care.
Jonathan Cross, DDS
PS. Wish I could send you some photos of the Riviera. It was built in Flint, Michigan, the home of my ancestors, to compete with the Ford Thunderbird. (Another classic). Only 33,728 1972 Buick Rivieras were built, so I don’t think that worked for Buick.
Jonathan
Love those old Rivieras
Diesel engine would be good. Bio!!! R99!

LAKEFIELD
What’s Up Neil?
Lakefield fundraiser is one week away and I can’t be more excited. I hope you are too. You have been the soundtrack to my life and I find myself listening now more than ever. My favourites change regularly but have found the Boarding House recording in heavy rotation lately. A truly legendary performance. I know this isn’t a request hotline, but I would love to hear a Shots or Thrasher in my lifetime. Please consider for the solo performance. I think your voice is sounding better than ever and am super grateful that you continue to hit the road.
PS—I’ve watched all of your movies. I particularly enjoyed both Coastal and the LincVolt series. I love your humour. If music doesn’t work out you could likely find a career in comedy.
All the best Neil. Thank You for everything you do.
Sean
Thanks Sean
