The Squires Alumni lost another member this week, Ken Smyth was the Squire’s drummer during most of the Winnipeg years. Ken’s obituary appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press today.
Squire Jack-
He was such a quiet modest guy and we became good friends again after spending time together at the 1987 rock reunion/Kelvin High reunion in Winnipeg and that evening at the Blue Note Cafe.
Squire Neil-
I remember Ken as a guy who was in it 100%. There was something about his father and mom liking that he was doing this, and the good feelings we always had practicing at Smyth’s house basement and garage.
Ken had a rare form of cancer discovered about four years ago and while his treatment arrested the primary cancer, it wasn’t a cure. He passed away on Wednesday, April 3 2019. Rest in Peace Ken.
