I was thinking about the dreams we had back in 1966.
ELVIS was such a big part of those dreams
Jack White fits right in.

The article features a Henry Diltz photo, and I remembered Neil & I, leaving the Whisky, on Sunset Strip, to see our friend Henry Diltz, called Tad in 1966 and the band he was in “MFQ”, play their last set at the club a small nightclub Santa Monica Blvd.
After their set finished, we would all walk to breakfast somewhere in Hollywood.

Bedtime was seldom before 4 am.
There was no crime on the streets,
drugs were not yet an issue,
money not much of a problem either,
we shared what we had and that was always just enough.

The hours became days and nights, and often weeks turn into months spent adding paint and subtracting paint and painting over again and again with the words of “Round and Round” spinning in my head and tearing at my heart,
That is how I paint, a head full of words, often words from Neil’s songs.
I look for a stopping place and can never be sure I have found one.
Have I accomplished my goals; I wonder?
My painting thoughts turn into life thoughts.
Am I leaving this world a better place?
Did my children and grandchildren feel my love?
Will they survive despite climate change and fossil fuel?
Is the emotional, mental and physical well-being of our world, spinning out of control.
My grandparents thought that the end of the world was upon us but not because of pollution.

They said God was taking us home.
The one thing they would agree on is that

Love is the answer.

Round And Round
(It Won’t Be Long)
Written by Neil Young

Round and round and round we spin
To weave a wall to hem us in
It won’t be long, it won’t be long
How slow and slow and slow it goes
To mend the tear that always shows
It won’t be long, it won’t be long
It’s hard enough losing the paper illusion
You’ve hidden inside
Without the confusion of finding
you’re using crutch of the lie
To shelter your pride when you cry

Round and round and round we spin
To weave a wall to hem us in
It won’t be long, it won’t be long
How slow and slow and slow it goes
To mend the tear that always shows
It won’t be long, it won’t be long

Now you’re grooving too slow
And wherever you go there’s another besides
It’s so hard to say no to yourself and it shows
That you’re losing inside

When you step on your pride, and you cry
Round and round and round we spin
To weave a wall to hem us in
Now the hours will bend through the time
That you spend till you turn to your eyes
And you see your best friend
Looking over the end and you turn to see why
And he looks in your eyes and he cries.

Round and round and round we spin
To weave a wall to hem us in
It won’t be long, it won’t be long
How slow and slow and slow it goes
To mend the tear that always shows
It won’t be long, it won’t be long
