Today, a dynamic piece of music history, produced by CSNY, is released for the first time. Live At Fillmore East, 1969 by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young is now available on vinyl (2LP) and CD from Rhino. The great concert, recorded at the Fillmore East in New York City on September 20, 1969, is a recently discovered, masterpiece multi-track recording from the band’s first tour, weeks after their legendary Woodstock performance.
The recording features both acoustic and electric sets, including early live versions of songs from Déjà Vu and classic tracks like “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” “Wooden Ships,” and “Down By The River, during the transition from CSN to CSNY”. Mixed by Stephen Stills and Neil Young with John Hanlon at Sunset Sound Studios, the album was produced using all-analog recordings for the highest audio fidelity.
Neil talks about the process: “We mixed this amazing musical moment as CSNY came together, at Sunset Sound – It was All Original – All Analog. We’re staying all analog throughout the production. The vinyl of this will be sensational. A performance for history!”
