GREENDALE is the story of Sun Green, a young girl growing up on a ranch in the country, trying to make a big difference in her world. The album, written as a story, was made into a SHAKEY PICTURES movie, with Larry Johnson and I shooting super-eight film.
Crazy Horse as a trio, without Poncho on guitar, made this record. I wanted it to be simple and plain, telling a story.
A live stage show movie, Return To Greendale, including Poncho playing on Wurlitzer, and a full cast, like a Broadway show, was released in 2021.
