Bluenote Café – Neil Young and Bluenote Cafe
released 11-13-2015
Steve Lawrence was the soul of the Bluenote Cafe Band. Tommy Bray on trumpet. Fumo and Claude. We had a blast playing all this music. Chad and Rick. Check the credits on the info card. I wanted to feel a horn section and great rhythm section, after I wrote the songs on ‘This Notes for You” and ‘Blue Note Cafe,’ so named for a little hole in the wall I visited in Winnipeg during the eighties. It all happened so fast. driving with Paul ‘Wog” Williamson in my 54 caddy limo ‘Pearl’ to SIR in LA to record and play with the big band.
What a groove. Everybody was free and into it. Poncho played hammond organ. I used my silvertone amp with old black, abandoning the deluxe I always used with the horse. I had a blast. Almost made a video ‘Welcome to the Big Room,’ but couldn’t get it funded. Those were the days. Enjoy this for what it is. Music for the soul.
