American Dream – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
released 11-22-1988
This was CSNY in 1988, my second studio album with the band. almost thirty years after Deja Vu. It was fun to see the guys again and make a record, but we were not as focused as we had been in the past and it showed. We recorded mostly at the ranch at Plywood Analog in the same room ‘Ragged Glory’ was recorded.
‘This Old House’ was my favorite song of the ones I brought to the sessions, although ‘Feel Your Love’ is my most soulful.
Still’s ‘Got it made’ is my favorite track from this album. We tried to make a great record and it was fun to get together again.
Both David and Graham brought good songs to the sessions but some were not recorded with the band all together and I think I missed that in the feeling of this record.
Touring first to get back into a band groove, would have been good. Overall, I remember this as an attempt but not a score. Low and outside. We tried and we had a pretty good time, but we had other things going on in our lives that distracted us from greatness.
