A huge thank you to everyone who made the Neil Young Northcote Concert possible.
Neil Young , Solo, with his dogs on stage , and his ‘invisible band’ was my favourite concert, EVER! The set list was like maple syrup running through my soul, every lyric, his harmonica notes like Lake Superior’s North Shore rustling winds in the pines and guitar strums , a Lakehead Northern Ontario road trip familiar playlist. I was over the moon he started with ‘Comes a Time’ , best line- “oh, this whole world keep spinnin’ round , it’s a wonder tall trees ain’t layin’ down “ . Old Man , Massey Hall , 1971 to Old Man , 2025 Northcote version, what a time!
I might be in the minority, for me the spring rain added a genuine Lakefield-Canadiana weather tenacity to the experience. The energy was alive. I had, like Jenna, my wooly native Cowichan hat to keep warm and fleece blankets to share.
Richard and I are passionate about restoring old houses and using local, reclaimed and sustainable materials . We’ve done a 1950s bungalow and a 1908 farmhouse with nine acres of trees and trails.
A heartfelt thank you to Neil Young and Daryl Hannah for restoring Northcote’s farmhouse and outbuildings. I hope they heard the spring peepers and chorus frogs that sang us out down the path after his concert.
We are so grateful to have been there. Matt and James throughly enjoyed it too . Our old cottage runs on vinyl, HiFi not wifi 😊💕 they are well versed in Neil’s music.
Rolling Stone magazine!! Kudos.
Kindest regards,
