Your New Year’s Resolution is Unconditional Surrender to the Earth

By Reverend Billy

The catastrophic news of the world, at the New Year 2022, is unbelievable. Everywhere we have floods and fires and the virus. Everywhere.

This resembles a world war. But, this would be the first war where the USA is not protected by the oceans. This is the first war where the USA did not have air superiority. We have no Star Wars defense against these behemoth storms and tornados and heatwaves.

What? This is not a war! Well, this is how most American’s view it. Our public spokespersons in politics and the media present the natural disasters as enemies that are fanatical, or just plain evil. Many of the descriptions are borrowed from the script we have used for wars against asian or moslems. The storm is “relentless” and “cruel”. The sparks of the fires jump over rivers, the virus leaps from person to person like an invading evil army.

It is useful to portray the natural disasters as the work of an invading enemy if we go farther into it. The way of war is that when enemies are distant, then they are vilified. When the enemy combatants have killed each other for some years, and they must sit down at a table and talk, then often as not they talk to each other with some respect. I wonder if that would be possible in our fight with the Earth?

We have always considered ourselves as superior to the Earth, by way of religion, capitalism, and “Enlightenment” philosophy – so much of our history has instructed us to hate and fear the wildness beyond our city limits. But now our enemy has smart bombs that are more sophisticated that ours, judging from the recent tornadoes in Kentucky that we described as bombs. Our old idea of war inspires us to create superior sea-walls, carbon capture, electric cars, etc. That way of thinking is clearly not realistic.

The future is not a triumph over the heat and disease and winds and floods. The future that should be our resolution here at the turn of the year is – surrender unconditionally to the Earth.

Things fall into place when we accept that, first, this is a life and death moment. And secondly, the Earth is intelligent. A demand in our surrender discussions with the Earth is clearly that all CO2 emissions stop at this time. The Earth is saying that we stop our cars and trucks and jets. We walk away from them. The Earth’s condition for surrender is that we stop drilling for oil stop at this time. Oil and gas in pipelines, ships and trains – stop at this time. No fossil fuel is to be consumed. Manufactures of fossil fuel in plastics, pesticides, food or cosmetics – stop now.

The Earth will require that money be budgeted for de-programming of consumers. Estimates put the current exposure to advertisement by an urban person with a computer at 10,000 per day. This must be reduced to zero at the time. Ordinary citizens will learn to spot fossil fuels that are blended into everything from hearing aids to sneaker soles to perfumes. The Earth will require a massive withdrawal of fossil fuel products from all walks of life, to be detoxified and cycled back into the planet.

And, I am operating under the idea that the Earth is given us only one option, unconditional surrender. There can be only one New Year’s resolution in 2022. This is a life-and-death emergency that over the years we have been unable to recognize as a danger to ourselves and our families. At this moment, January 1, 2022, we need to capitulate to the Earth’s grand scheme. Believing that the Earth is a conscious being, it is time to surrender completely, and accept that if a role appears for humans, we will receive those instructions.

The health of the Earth is a new world that we welcome. It will come back to us faster than we guessed, as quickly as the sky turning a mesmerizing blue in the spring of 2020.
