4 Way Street – Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young

CSNY shows were the most fun of anything we did in the band. Crosby was great onstage, the catalyst who kept us all bouncing off of one another. Stills and I in particular got off on great journeys together during ‘Southern Man’ and all the other long songs where there is room to jam. Crosby’s ‘Long Time Gone’ was always great. He delivered every single time and we were right behind him. When he and Stills and Nash sang, it was magic in the stage. Still’s “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” and Nash’s ‘Teach Your Children’ are great examples. I just added in a little here and there because the vocals were so great.
The real soul of CSNY for me was the acoustic singing, and the electric jamming. I love playing with Stills! Enjoy ‘Four Way Street’. It’s a great album. We were our best on the road. I’m really glad we have a record of those times. They were good ones.
