Now that I have learned that the owner of Spotify, my old friend Daniel Ek, is investing in military AI weaponry with some of the money you pay for listening to Spotify music, at first I thought – I have to leave Spotify.
Then I started thinking about Europe, and how it will defend itself from Putin, China and the absent former ally Trump, I really began to wonder what to do. Should the music help pay for defense of Europe? Should Music now be used this way? Most of my Spotify listeners are about 70 years old now. Young people hear my music through this channel on playlists and the changing ways music is shared. I am almost eighty. We all have children and grandchildren to consider in this changing world. What is the best course? My music is mostly old now. What should it be doing?
When I see the crowds of people at my European shows, many of them look like me.
