Tim Mulligan is a musical / technical audio genius who has been recording – mixing my shows and records for almost 50 years. His recordings of my shows are so well done that seldom do we ever have to adjust them to make them live records (unless it’s to fix my mistakes).
Tim first came to Broken Arrow Ranch in Northern California in the early 70s with a good friend of Zeke’s mother Carrie Snodgress. On the ranch, Tim started working for the foreman, building fences at that time. His interest in and experience with music was already well established in his family. His mother was a musical director at a music camp and Tim was part of the band ‘Ned’ in Chicago. Now Tim is our unofficial music director and has been for decades.
When we started building the ranch studio, Tim was right there and he worked in the studio with Briggs, making my records and going on all our tours. Soon he was mixing the live shows. He began mastering my records at the ranch’s Modern Recorders and still works on them every day, even as we created a studio nearby off-ranch after I moved away in 2014.
Tim’s enormous talent for record-making and live show mixing is now legendary and he is a good friend, still going strong with us. I would not be where I am today without Briggs and Mulligan, fondly known as Mr. Diligent and Mr. Conscientious.
Tim Mulligan still lives near the ranch with our old friends in Northern California, still working on mastering the archives with me, as well as several new projects. He mixed Return to Greendale and several other projects in the Archive that will be appearing.
There is no way to really capture the depth of Tim Mulligan’s enormous contributions to the music we have made over this lifetime. Thank you Tim from the bottom of my heart!
