2024 What the
Hell Happened?

My eco-system asked me to change, again and again. It never let up. I would wake up from a deep sleep and I knew I had to change completely. My career, my idea of who my friends were, my idea of what I looked like – everything needed to change before I could have my coffee.

Savi and Lena kept hugging me and I kept hanging on, poor bastard. The house that we live in stayed there, thank the Earth for that. What’s wrong? Was it the violence of last year? Every few hours a completely new must-have app accompanied by a war.

For just a few dollars a month I could high-light the face of a frightened child suffering the trauma of my tax dollars…. I could photoshop that face over to a white sand beach in the Yucatan where all the tourists are retired nurses…. 2024 was exhausting.

Applause and dying. Orgasm and complications from invisible corporate toxins. Standing on a stage that turns into a silvery pond full of ducks quaking wisdom sayings. Fighting my way back to my house on the F Train – into the arms of my loves. I implore them, where did those ducks come from? They stole the show!

My loves tell me, memorize your lines until you have a revelation. A thousand revelations make an evolution. A thousand evolutions make a revolution. After thousand revolutions, then get back on the F Train and come home. That was last year, but it’s December 29 as I write this. The year isn’t over. Oh no.

Maybe it’s not too late. If only Gautama Buddha were my therapist. Or Krishna, or Jesus, or Moses or the Prophet. But all year they were gone, killing each others’ innocent believers. I’m talking about 2024, what a year.

I ask my eco-system – how do I defend my family from the latest app? My forest tells me to bury my face in its roots… The roots are talking in a language that I know I will have to lose everything to understand. I will have to leap from a high cliff to get the message. I tell the tree I’ve been jumping off cliffs all year.

Now I’m writing my New Year’s resolutions for 2025. I’m aware that my two resolutions are nearly impossible. Love and Live!

Love Earth!
