For years, the Republican Party has launched a systematic effort to convince people that social media is biased against conservatives. Popular Information has been at the forefront of dismantling this claim with facts.
In September 2018, this newsletter reported on the installation of a right-wing publication as an official Facebook fact-checker. In October 2019, Popular Information reported on the “Republican political operatives who call the shots at Facebook.” We’ve repeatedly documented how Facebook allows right-wing publishers to break its rules and exposed massive pro-Trump networks that were run from abroad.
The rest of the media is starting to catch on. In February 2020, The Washington Post published a lengthy piece on “How conservatives learned to wield power inside Facebook.” And this is the latest cover story of Businessweek, which cites Popular Information’s reporting.
