One of our old friends, a record maker for the ages, is no longer with us. His masterful music lives on. The great Al Schmitt has passed away. Al was a good friend to Niko Bolas and I for many many years and his gift for recording was recognized around the world.
Al taught us so much and I am so happy that Niko arranged a zoom call just a couple of days ago where I got a chance to tell him again how great his influence is and how much I loved what he did for my music – from ‘On the Beach’ to ‘Storytone’ and ‘Children of Destiny,’ Al was right there with us. Thanks so very much Al, for your kindness, your smile, your ties, and your great talent. You made us all better.
