Radio is playing Love Earth! That makes me real happy!
This week, TALKIN’ ON THE RADIO I found the DJs to be totally into music and I really enjoyed meeting them on the airwaves.
I talked with Dennis Constantine: DJ and program director for WXRV in Boston, WNCS in Burlington and KVNA in Flagstaff. We talked about meeting in 1976 and Dennis getting the AAA format started after seeing our show with Crazy Horse in Boulder, CO back then. He was talking to someone in the crowd with a radio station T shirt who mentioned the new owner was trying to decide what format the station should be. Dennis met the owner and went on to work for him and started the first AAA station in America which started the AAA (Adult Album Alternative) format.
Then I met Jim McGuinn: DJ for radio station WXPN Philadelphia, Jeff Leake: DJ for radio Sirius XM Canada satellite radio, and Jade Tittile: DJ for AAA Radio Station KCMP in Minneapolis (The Current). These were all great music loving people who are playing ‘Love Earth’. I really had a blast talking with these music loving folks!
We all really love the idea that many people hearing the same music together at the same time, share a cool thing – a soul sharing experience very different from today’s streaming services.
If radio fires up its old AM analog transmitters on the tops of buildings in big cities, and sends that signal out today, it would be the closest thing to the great sound of analog vinyl, which everyone loves! How great if RADIO became the Future of Quality Sound on the airwaves!! RADIO BRINGS BACK QUALITY!!!
