BILLY TALBOT

Billy ‘Boom Boom’ Talbot is Crazy Horse’s bass player and singer and one of the greatest rockers of all time. Billy always had the feeling, laying it down down simple and basic, always with the original boom.

Mostly Billy was the glue that made the Crazy Horse sound. He and Ralph, together created that magic. His touch, playing so many different ways, with so much soul, used so few notes. Every note counts.

As I write this, Crazy Horse ‘COLORADO’ has not yet come out. Billy plays like a master on that record. So simple and soulfully direct. What a feel! His singing is the same way. . . .always with so much soul. I am at a loss for the right words to describe Billy, but I am so thankful for ‘Colorado’ and our chance to play together again in this lifetime. May there be more and more.

Listen to his part on ‘Down by the River’, ‘Cowgirl in the Sand’, ‘Cinnamon Girl’, ‘Tonight’s the Night!’ Just listen to anything he touched. That is the sound. He has it. My music would have never gone to the places it has without Crazy Horse and Billy is at the heart of the band. Billy and Ralph together. . . since the early sixties. A gift for me and for us all.

Why do I write the songs I write when I play with the Horse? Why are they so different? It’s the cosmic soul of the Horse. . . . Billy and Ralph. . . . . with Danny, Poncho or Nils. Thanks David Briggs and everyone involved for making Crazy Horse continue to rock over the decades, from ‘Everybody Knows This is Nowhere’ to ‘Colorado’ and beyond.
